Personality:
It is honestly a wonder that Percy Jackson has made it this far in his life. As son of one of the "Big Three," Percy is a strong demigod and thus a magnet for all kinds fo trouble. This is due to his parentage, but his personality alone has a tendency to get him in trouble as well. As a teenager with both ADHD and dyslexia, he has had a hard time in school.

Being unable to properly read English and being too restless and energetic to focus on lessons means that it's difficult for him to academically excel, despite his intelligence. Between that and other reasons that need not be named, he has a track record of having to change schools almost every year. That certainly makes it difficult to make and maintain friends, but once Percy is friends with someone, he tries to be the best friend to them that he can be.

Something important to note is that Percy is the type of person to befriend the people who need friends. It's not a popularity contest for him; he would sooner befriend the kid who is picked on and bullied over trying to be in the "in" crowd. (It certainly helps that Percy is a bit of an underdog and social outcast as well.) One of the best examples of this is his befriending and defending Tyson, a homeless kid going to his school before it was revealed that Tyson was his Cyclops half-brother. Cyclops have a bad reputation for being evil monsters; indeed many of the Cyclops that Percy encounters throughout his life are terrible. It is important to mention that Percy does end up with a negative opinion of Tyson when he first finds out they're brothers, but this eventually changes, and Percy can honestly say that he does love his brother.

Percy is often reckless in a number of manners; he's easily baited, easily angered, and doesn't have the ability to keep his mouth shut when he needs to. There is a sarcastic response to everything, particularly if he's annoyed or doesn't like the person to whom he's speaking. It doesn't matter if it's an authority figure or a powerful god. Thus, he ends up having bad relationships with Dionysus and Ares.

He is quick to point out injustices and inconsistencies, and this tends to not do him any favours as well. It's almost a bit of a dichotomy that someone so intelligent can be this incredibly stupid. What it comes down to is that his smarts do not outweigh his recklessness, even in instances where he knows he's being manipulated. This is one of the reasons why it's a good thing that he has such sensible friends. If Annabeth weren't around to reel him in, for example, he probably actually would've died ages ago, and that really isn't much of an exaggeration. Foot-in-mouth syndrome can often be fatal, after all.

Like most heroes, Percy is a natural leader. He's a guy you can count on to lead by example; he'll be the one at the front lines, fighting the toughest opponents alongside anyone else aiding him rather than be the one calling shots from the sidelines. This is one of his greatest strengths; his determination to prove himself and to work with various partners is one of the reasons he was able to win over the Roman camp, who tend to staunchly dislike all things Greek, probably all the way down to Kalamata olives. (Of course, his battle skills definitely helped with that a lot as well.) His tenacity and strength of character also has made him a respected demigod even among the gods who actually hate him.

There are moments where Percy can be quite obtuse, and the intent of this really depends upon the situation. It's safe to assume that at least part of the time it's to be annoying, because it is a fair statement to say that Percy is quite capable of being a jerk. On that same note, some things just don't even occur to him. More often than not, he can be a typical brainless boy who doesn't think things through at all, and doesn't realise he's being mean or insensitive to others around him. This leaves him really confused as to why certain people end up being grumpy around him or simply don't want to be near.

Should he know the truth in these situations, he would feel guilty and try to make amends. It doesn't take much to make him feel guilty, even if it's due to circumstances that are necessary. He's had to lie and be deceitful- whether through omission or blatant lying -for the sake of survival and other important means. At the very least, Percy does try to make it up to others when he's failed them, used them, and so on. (Let's take a minute to be sad about Bob.)

Another important aspect to mention is that Percy tends to put too much faith in the way he thinks things are going to turn out; he has literally gambled on his life before because he went out on a limb and assumed that he was more important alive to a particular enemy than another. So far he has been incredibly lucky, in that he hasn't died, but eventually that luck is bound to run out. He's been reminded several times that a hero's life is a pleasant or happy one. He knows how dangerous his life is, but that hasn't stopped him from doing what he thinks is necessary for the overall good of the mission/humanity/et cetera.

With that in mind, it's necessary to mention the importance of Annabeth. All of his friends and family are extremely important to him; he would make grave sacrifices and make Not Smart™ decisions in order to protect them. Annabeth, however, holds a place in his heart and life that no one else could replace. She is not only capable of keeping him from going off the handle typically speaking, but she is the one thing that has kept him going even during his lowest points. When he couldn't remember anything but her, she is the one thing to keep him going. Whether or no he makes it to adulthood is one thing, but hoping that he will be able to share his future with her is what allows him to persevere.

Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses:
Percy is a demigod, and with that comes certain perks. He is more durable than the average human; he's harder to beat down and harder to kill, but as he no longer has the Achilles curse, he is far from being relatively invincible. He's had a few years of combat training, and along with his handy dandy sword, Riptide, he is able to hold his own quite well.

He has dyslexia and ADHD, which serve as both strengths and weaknesses. Reading English is difficult at times, as his brain is "hardwired" to understand Ancient Greek instead, like many of the other Greek demigods. ADHD means that he is prone to being hyperactive and focusing on one particular thing can be rather difficult- such as paying attention in school. What this means as a demigod, however, is that he's able to handle intense situations such as fights with more ease than he would be able to otherwise. Basically, it allows him to be hyper-alert and quick-footed.

Both of these are common traits for demigods to have. Another that is fairly common is having a particular kind of dream. Dreams for a demigod aren't usually just that; instead they're visions of things that are happening far away, and even allow for mobility while being unnoticed, if they're lucky. While this is usually an unpleasant skill to have, it can be quite useful in many circumstances.

As the son of Poseidon, he is able to control ocean water for both offensive and defensive means. If he wanted to, he could create a wave to surf on without a surfboard and avoid getting wet. Saying he has the sea in him isn't off base at all. That said, he can breathe underwater, and it can even heal any injuries he's sustained in battle, should he come in contact with it. In some instances he can use his own power to create water. He has the ability to navigate the seas; he innately knows them like the back of his hand. In many regards, he's more at home there than he is on land. Another important Poseidon-related skill is his ability to communicate with equines and sea creatures.

If something has enough water in it, he might be able to partially control it.

There are limitations to what Percy can do, however. Put in the right situation, he can be quite vulnerable. This is fairly easy to occur, as he's a literal magnet for trouble as various monsters are drawn to the scent of powerful demigods. At times he can be reckless and if he feels it necessary, he can and will gamble his own life.

His own fears can be a hindrance to him as well, though the degree of it varies. Percy is the type of person who can push himself to overcome fears and worries. Notable fears include the prophecies that hint at his demise (IE, the Great Prophecy), claustrophobia, and fear of suffocation.

Percy's greatest weakness is his "fatal flaw." It has been pointed out by various characters throughout the series, and whether this flaw is a good or bad thing remains to be seen. Every demigod is said to have one, and for Percy it's his dedication to his loved ones. There is a common idiom about cutting a finger to save the hand; making sacrifices for the common good and so on. Percy is incapable of this. He would sooner save a friend than leave them for dead. They don't even necessarily have to be friends; he often takes it upon himself to try to save people in need, even if the task itself is difficult.

There was still so much to be done. Percy knew that; the task before him was almost daunting, but everything he'd done over the past few years had led up to this point. Fights against Luke; fights against Cyclopes, Titans, and so many other monsters; he'd travelled to Ogygia, the Underworld, through Tartarus, the latter of which was a feat that should've been impossible to a mortal, demigod or not. He wouldn't have been able to do it without Annabeth, Bob, and an incredible amount of luck.

But he had. They had.

It seemed insane to even consider, but at least they were one step closer to defeating Gaea. It would certainly help if they could united the Greek and Roman camps, and Percy was confident in their ability to do that since Annabeth was able to salvage the Athena Parthenos from the depths of Rome.

Now, the team could plot and plan as much as they'd like, as with the exception for fighting the various monsters they happened upon, there was a bit of downtime. Relatively speaking, at least.

It was time that Percy both needed and didn't want. He felt like he could sleep for a week at this point. At least, he could after eating enough for ten growing teenage boys. Other than that, the supposed downtime left too much time think. Sometimes that wasn't a bad thing; it could easily be a good thing. But right now, it wasn't.

Percy couldn't help but wonder how long it'd been since he'd last seen or directly spoken to his mother. Ages was the easy answer. It was sometime before Hera had kidnapped him and stolen his memories, that much was certain. The only thing he could do was hope that she and his stepfather were okay and safe. It really wouldn't be safe for him to try to contact her again; it would not only endanger him and the other demigods around him, but potentially her as well.

The last thing he wanted was for her to be held hostage by a big bad again. The outcome likely wouldn't be as favourable as before.

He missed Rachel and Grover too, and everyone else that he hadn't seen in a long time. When the time came, he would see them again. That was as certain as it was that the next few weeks would be tumultuous. That alone was the biggest understatement ever. In more grave terms, the fate of the world literally rested upon the shoulders of himself and the others. If they couldn't succeed, the entire human race, the gods, and everything else that mattered would be in peril.

The teenager let out a frustrated sigh. This alone was the reason why thinking too much right now was a bad thing. He probably could've gone to talk to Annabeth about everything, and she would've found a way to make things better. Instead, he flopped down on his cot and turned to face the wall. Sleeping would probably be better, as it was getting late. Percy just hoped that he was tired enough to not have any dreams.
